Incident Aware is Now Available in the RingCentral App Gallery!

by Nathan March 3, 2023

Although our Mass Notification and Incident Tracking & Response Enhancement solution has been compatible with RingCentral for some time, it's now officially listed and available as a stand-alone solution. RingCentral users can confidently choose Incident Alert to enhance both their alerting for emergencies originating through RingCentral phone use, and those originating from outside of their RingCentral, platform entirely.

Many RingCentral users have chosen to add our GenAlert solution in order to greatly expand their awareness using our emergency alerting options (including alert formats, intelligent recipient and path selection based on location, etc.), while ensuring thorough records are kept of all call details, call audio, and validated caller location. Using Incident Aware, either stand-alone or in conjunction with GenAlert, provides additional integrations with overhead paging, push notifications via our cross-platform app, 2-way SMS, and adds the ability to generate alerts completely outside of the RingCentral solution, to nearly any person or device, for any purpose.

Incident Aware is used to enhancing emergency response management by many businesses operating large campuses or facilities. Often, emergencies within these facilities can be difficult to detect, and it can be similarly challenging to both notify all staff and disseminate clear instructions to all emergency participants to ensure the greatest level of safety. By providing detailed instructions, checklists, and robust, real-time multi-channel 2-way communications, you can collaborate with everyone within your organization and ensure nothing is missed, and everyone is safe.

Contact Genesis for more information on how Incident Aware works with your RingCentral solution, other on-prem or hosted voice solutions, and how we can help optimize your on-site safety regardless of your goals.

Emergency Notifications in Your Hotel

by Nathan February 14, 2023

Hotels are a home away from home for travelers, offering comfort, convenience, and safety. As such, hotel management is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of their guests at all times. One important aspect of this is having effective emergency notification tools in place. Emergency notification tools can save lives in the event of an emergency, and they can also provide peace of mind to guests and staff.

Hotels have fire detection and prevention solutions in place, but often do not have any emergency alerting or broadcasting systems. These tools are essential because they can alert guests and staff to potential dangers, and they can provide critical and timely information on how to respond to emergency situations. They can also help prevent panic and confusion, which can be just as dangerous as the emergency itself.

Emergency Alerting solutions can be used to alert guests and staff to a wide range of emergencies, such as severe weather, natural disasters, acts of terrorism, evacuation or lockdown events, and other potential emergencies. These systems can provide specific instructions to both staff and guests on how to respond to the emergency, such as where to go and what to do. They can also help prevent misinformation and rumors from spreading, which can create unnecessary panic and confusion.

Additionally, text messaging, phone calls, and digital signage can be used to reach guests directly and provide them with information on the emergency and what they should do. Digital signage can be used to display emergency alerts and instructions in common areas of the hotel. these tools also provide guests with the ability to remain in contact with the hotel and staff after evacuation and while awaiting further instructions, or in the event of additional needs for assistance.

Emergency notification tools are essential in hotels to ensure the safety and security of guests and staff. They can save lives, prevent panic and confusion, and provide peace of mind. Hotel management should invest in high-quality emergency notification tools and ensure that they are regularly maintained and tested to ensure they are functioning properly. By doing so, they can help create a safe and secure environment for everyone.

GenAlert Real-Time 911 Alerting Now Supports Mitel!

by Nathan April 21, 2021

Genesis is excited to announce our GenAlert real-time 911 alerting solution is now compatible with Mitel Phone Systems!

Many Mitel users already use our Call Tracking solution for managing staffing resources and telephone use (and misuse), and can now add real-time alerting to greatly improve on-site awareness and emergency response time. The issue with standard call-accounting-based alerting solutions is that they only notify you once the call has completed (hung up).

Since real emergency calls are rarely terminated prior to emergency services arriving on-site, staff often have no idea anything is happening until help is already on-site. Since staff are the closest responders - and are certainly more familiar with the premises - they need to be the first people to know when there's an issue requiring emergency help. Response can then start immediately, staff can coordinate and both attend to the emergency and be ready to direct Fire, Police and EMS services prior to their arrival.

Mitel users can receive alerts via a combination of desktop-based alerts, in-app notifications on Android & iOS devices, emails, SMS messages, and custom integrations with strobe lights and other equipment. Combining all these paths, it's nearly impossible for your staff to not be immediately aware there's an emergency in progress that requires their help.

When adding in our call tracking & reporting solution and our app-based incident tracking & mass notifications, the overall solution provides the most comprehensive reporting, tracking, and alerting solution for Mitel users of any size.

What's Minimally Involved in Keeping Safe?

by Nathan March 18, 2020

For many, the current and upcoming 911-related legislation is a bit confusing. Some compliance deadlines have already passed, others are upcoming, and there's general confusion around which of these deadlines affect you.

Even though many organizations aren't explicitly required to (yet), I strongly encourage everyone to minimally start with implementing on-site alerting. This is both the least expensive component and where the greatest enhancement to on-site safety and response is realized. Additionally, it's either mandatory now or will be for your organization in the not-so-distant future.

Getting the location information to the answering PSAP is important, no question. This information helps PSAPs and their responding agencies in determining where to respond to (especially important for large campuses, multiple location organizations, or multi-floor buildings). Especially when help is several minutes away already, routing responders to the correct area is absolutely critical in ensuring help is not delayed in any way.

But what about those who are in the best position to provide immediate assistance? The often under-appreciated reality is that help is already on-site and available. Whether it be your security, first-aid, or in reality, any staff, you already have resources on-site and ready to assist prior to first responders arriving. This help comes in the moments when it is most critical.

On-site staff are able to respond immediately, and are in a position where they can start providing care immediately. Additionally, staff can prepare access for first responders, and be ready to direct them efficiently to where the emergency is once on-site. These realities all dramatically improve response time both prior to, and once first-responder help has arrived on-site.

Contact Genesis Systems for more information on E911, immediate emergency on-site alerting, and the features available to help improve your on-site emergency responses. These solutions provide improvements in response time of several minutes, at a time when every second counts.
