Scannex IP Buffer Boxes

Buffer boxes connect directly to your telephone system to capture call data as it occurs. Although these are primarily used in polling or multi-site installations they can also be used locally where backup of call data is critical or where the computer is switched off for periods of time. A buffer box (such as the MicroBuffer) will prevent you from losing any call records should your computer need to be restarted, planned or unplanned. The ip.buffer can be used to transport serial data across your corporate LAN or WAN, eliminating the need for direct connections to data ports on your telephone switch and serial ports on your computer. All Scannex buffers are capable of automatically detecting serial port pin-outs, data formats and baud rates which can greatly assist in simplifying initial configuration.

Genesis currently offers four buffer boxes designed by Scannex. One of these four buffer boxes should be able to accommodate your application's physical connection and data storage requirements.

MicroBufferMicroBuffer:

The MicroBuffer is a compact, ultra-low power, RS232 buffer that automatically detects the pin out and communications format of the data source, eliminating the need for null modem cables and adapters and knowledge of baud rates or protocols. The MicroBuffer buffer box provides 1MB (12,500 records) of non-volatile flash storage. The MicroBuffer is line powered and requires no external power supplies. It can even get enough power from the serial port it is buffering.

ip.Buffer:

Scannex ip.buffers are available in three different capacities: A single port buffer box with 32MB of storage, a 2 port buffer with 64MB of storage and a 4 port buffer with 128MB of storage space. ip.buffer 1 port

The ip.buffer boxes provide a powerful yet cost-effective solution for the collection of CDR data, Traffic reports, ACD statistics and 911 alert information originating from your PBX. The ip.buffer can also function as a pass-thru device for serial data sources, eliminating the need for serial to IP devices. The ip.buffer has a powerful range of data delivery options using industry standard TCP/IP protocols.

  • Email and SNMP trap alerts on important events (memory full, no data activity, etc.)

    • ip.buffer 1 port - 32MB of data storage (approx 350,000 records)
    • ip.buffer 2 port - 64MB of data storage (approx 700,000 records)
    • ip.buffer 4 port - 128MB of data storage (approx 1.4 million records)
  • Pool or segregate buffered data (min and max limits for each port)
  • Plastic case for single port, metal for dual and quad models
